GROUP OF GENETICS AND CONSERVATION GENOMICS

Our research group is formed by professionals and students of genetics, genomics, bioinformatics and ecology areas, focus on genetics and genomics plant populations in brazilian biomes, as well as on agricultural pest insects and pollinators. Under the leadership by Professor Maria Imaculada Zucchi, we seek, through the use of new generation molecular markers, understand the processes involved in the establishment and maintenance of the diversity and genetic structure of all the studied species.

RESEARCH LINES

Our group have been worked in population genetics and genomics and bioinformatics areas, focus on the conservation and management of native species. We also developed scientific research with germplasm banks from different agricultural cultures. In addition to plants, our group also works with agricultural insect pests and native pollinators. Currently, the group have a large number of researchers working on scientific papers with native palm trees, cacti, orchids, pepper, native stingless bees and soybug complex.
